Market Locating Tips (5)

When talking with potential micro-market locations the following are bullet points to keep in mind:

First of all, they're accepting a FREE ‘service’ for a 30-day ‘trial’ period. Terminology matters!! That's important to emphasize.

Next, there's NO ONE else to compare with and that needs to be driven home. They can only compare with vending and there's really NO comparison between vending and a micro-market. If you're unclear on the benefits look at our ads and sales materials or Google it. You need to learn this.

IMPORTANT and needs to be used right

A 30-day free trial is what I've offered for many years. It can get you past ALL questions and concerns... easily. Understand that once it’s set up, so long as you service it properly, it will generally stay there indefinitely. Get your market ‘in the door’ under almost any pretense... that’s the goal. We do not use a ‘contract’ as they’re pretty much unenforceable anyway and just complicate and impede the process.

I would not offer them much proprietary data (such as advance explanation as to how the app works, pricing on each product offered, or a ‘complete’ list of products. *They don't need it. And if you start doing that you will seriously complicate your business... both up front AND down the road when they try and renegotiate some things.

HERE’S ALL THEY NEED TO KNOW

(1) An idea of what the market looks like, understanding that it will be configured based on sales. Variables include more shelving, larger glass front coolers, or additional coolers/freezers.

(2) All they need to know about pricing is that it's competitive with vending and convenience stores.

(3) The product line varies based upon availability. And we strive for at least 40% healthy items. If they want something not offered all they need to do is ask and we will do our best to provide it (not guaranteed).

(4) While there is a 30-day free trial period they're free to change up or cancel this service at ANY time if they should become dissatisfied. (Instills confidence and eliminates further concerns). Again, remember that getting the market in the door under almost any pretense is the goal.

(5) It would be HIGHLY impractical AND unnecessary to try and explain the app or charity arrangement in detail. All they need to know is that the app is a simple download and easy to use.

(6) We give each user $5 credit if they download and activate the app within 3 days. (‘If’ asked, activation just means they need to link their secure app account to a credit or debit card.

(7) Absolutely do NOT (under ANY circumstances) give them the name of the app before the market is set up. If they Google it... or try and download or use the app before your Bluetooth device is installed... they will become utterly confused.

(8) Regarding the charity, all they need to know is we give them 5% of sales less shrinkage, if any, with a $5 'minimum' monthly guarantee per location. The more honest and careful they are with payment the more the charity gets. *Also, the user can round up their purchase if they want, and that donation is paid DIRECTLY into the charity's account (not yours). We're not going to share our contracts. Once they have a market... 'if' they want... they will have a contact person at the charity you decide to affiliate with, which they can call if they want to verify donations from time to time. NOT until they are on board. You should not take up the time of your charity rep with this sort of thing until after it's an active account... hence, yet another reason for the 30-day trial.

It’s really that simple. So learn it well. If after some study and actual use, you have any questions let me know. Most team members anticipate questions or issues that just don’t come up. It’s best to just follow the plan.

After receiving and reviewing, please let me know if you have any questions.
